Maligned CBI playing with fire by attacking hawai chappal wali Mamata Didi: Shatrughan Sinha

Shatrughan Sinha said the CBI is a “maligned, disgraced and condemnable” institution whereas West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is a “tried and tested” mass leader.

ebel Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shatrughan Sinha has once again opened a front against his party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by slamming the CBI action in West Bengal.

Shatrughan Sinha said the CBI is a “maligned, disgraced and condemnable” institution whereas West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is a “tried and tested” mass leader.

He wondered why is the BJP “playing with fire” just months before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

“What is happening? Why are we playing with fire through the much maligned, disgraced and condemned govt institutions? That too when the elections are around the corner…by targeting the tried and tested mass leader with impeccable image, ‘Bengal Tigress’ Mamata Banerjee,” Shatrughan Sinha said in a tweet.

The BJP Lok Sabha MP from Bihar, who has often taken digs at the BJP and the prime minister in particular, said Mamata Banerjee is identified with “hawai chappal and cotton saris”.
He said the BJP has lost its credibility among the masses. “We have almost lost our credibility and people are not accepting whatever we are saying. Let’s not get into knee jerk panic action reaction. Jai Hind!”

On January 19, Shatrughan Sinha participated in the mega Opposition rally organised by Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata. The rally was attended and addressed by leaders of more than 20 opposition parties.
Addressing the rally, Shatrughan Sinha attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular, and the BJP in general. Raking up the Rafale deal controversy, he said the country will continue to say “chowkidaar hi chor hai” (watchman is the thief)-a moniker coined by Congress president Rahul Gandhi to attack Modi.
